AIA focuses on considering the wellbeing of people in their architectural designs. Robert Ivy campaigns for the incorporation of the force of design into the public health domain. The effect of design will be examined and debated accordingly. He asks for the challengers of architecture to present proofs on which they base their arguments. He emphasizes that the basic design rules demand that architects should ensure that health and safety of the expected occupants are always upheld. This is possible by making sunlight, fresh water, and clean water accessible. AIA is the leading professional group of architects in US. They are headquartered in Washington DC. They have more than 900,000 members all over the country.

He also believes that architectural practice is not only limited to design. It is opening up to supplemental services. The architects are working towards embracing sustainability in their designs. AIA is adopting this as a code of work. They believe that it is necessary because of the population challenges facing the planet. Therefore, there is need to put measures for sustainable designs.
